Drumming is Generational

My Great Grandfather George Farris was the man that my great grandmother Lillian married and left Chickasaw territory with to go down in to South Texas to raise a family. Stephanie’s Grandmother Mary was one of their 9 children. George lived to a ripe old age and received this drum pictured here for his 93 birthday.

Many family members had music instruments like guitars, harmonicas, and French harps, and played together often along with Pappa Farris’s Drum!! He was still the Justice of the Peace at this time too.

Please see excepts below from an article about him in our local newspaper. Stephanie grew up in Carrizo Springs from kindergarten to high school where music was a very big part of life from Friday night Football games to holiday parades through town with the Wildcat Marching Band!!
